How To Use Apple Translate App on iPhone

Apple is day by day moving towards innovation and updating its operating system to ease the daily life tasks for its users, and is successful in this up to a good extent. In their recently launched up to date operating system iOS 14, Apple introduced an app named as Apple’s Translate App. It’s pretty obvious from the name that this app, just like Google Translate for android, enables iOS 14 users to translate between mostly used languages today.

Noticeable thing about it is that it is available offline too, so if you’re traveling in some foreign land without access of internet, you can easily communicate with natives using Translate App.

Apple also used a comprehensive dictionary which allows users to use Translate App for educational purposes too. You can give your input either by typing the text in text box or by using microphone. When you use microphone for input, app automatically detects the language and translate it into the language of your choice.

To use this really useful app, find it using Apple’s famous Spotlight feature. Search “Translate” and if you don’t find any app there, firstly update your operating system to iOS 14 because sadly this app is only for iOS 14.

After searching for the app, tap on Apple Translate icon to open app.

Interface:

First thing users notice about any app is its interface and Apple opted for very simple, elegant and most importantly interactive interface for Apple Translate.

Perk of having voice input is that you can translate the whole conversation between two people speaking totally different languages. This feature can be really helpful to have effective communication while traveling to other parts of the world.

To use this really nice Conversation mode, you first need to have “Automatic Detection” turned on. After that, whenever you need to use this mode, simply tilt your phone to landscape mode.

Just tap on the microphone while both parties are talking, auto detection will detect both languages and then translate them for each other.

There’s another thing named as Attention mode within this conversation mode. You just have to expand your screen using arrows on it and it will show you a zoomed version of translation of the words you spoke. This is to increase the readability for better understanding especially for elder people. You can escape this mode at any time by tapping on the arrow on screen.

Favorites:

Apple added this not much useful but nice feature of favorites in Translate App. It is a star shaped button located with Translate button at the bottom of the screen. If you want to save any recent translation for future use, simply tap on favorite’s button and it will be saved as favorite. You can tap on Favorites button to see them later.

Dictionary:

To be used for educational purpose, Apple introduced Dictionary in Translate. Dictionary button is a book like button. To know and understand any word better with its extensive definition enter the word and tap on dictionary button. Along with definition, Translate also show you the category of word in grammar which is really helpful while doing any grammar related task. Overall Translate is an efficient, reliable and useful app. Best thing about it is that you can download language packs for offline use too and offline use ensures you more security of your text and speech. The only faced by users is that sometimes app doesn’t detect the language in voice searching, so we can hope for improvements in this and addition of languages so that the people all around the globe can use it!
